MiniMuc (Compact Deep-sea Corer) is a compact sediment corer with an auxiliary frame that acts as a transportation device as well as a corer. Probe samples are taken via four 600mm long tubes with diameters ranging from 40 to 100mm. Core tubes of 40mm diameter are used for sampling sandy sediment and 100mm diameter core tubes are used for sampling silt. The equipment is equipped with a support for mounting lead weights to ensure penetration of heavy sediment.
