Teledyne TSS Subsea Cable and Pipeline Magnetic Detector Series


The TSS350/TSS440, as the specialized submarine cable and pipeline detection/tracking equipment, has high detection accuracy and continuous detection results. The equipment is installed on the ROV, and it can continuously collect buried depth data by routing with ROV’s flying along the coastal cable. At the same time, the collected data can be submitted after simple processing in the field, according to which the section with insufficient buried depth can be judged, thereby, supplementary excavation can be carried out. Because electromagnetic induction detection is parallel to the direction of the pipeline, the operation efficiency is relatively high.

TSS350 is the submarine cable tracking instrument based on AC carrier method. When there is alternating current in the cable, there must be electromagnetic wave around it. The induction coil receives its corresponding induced electromotive force, and the voltage is inversely proportional to the distance between the cable and the sensor. Based on this principle, the distance between the submarine cable and the coil can be measured, and the buried depth of the submarine cable can be accurately detected with the built-in altimeter.

TSS440 is the cable detection equipment using pulse induction method (metal detection method), including three coils and altimeter. In the ungrounded circuit, the alternating current is input to produce a changing magnetic field, the submarine metal target induces a secondary magnetic field, and the receiving coil receives the induced voltage corresponding to the secondary magnetic field, so as to determine the distance of the target, and the buried depth of the submarine cable can be detected with the altimeter.
